OpenBB is shutting down and going open source
And I’m sharing the entire OpenBB roadmap I had with you soon.
Many of you will have seen the news by now.
After over 5 years working on OpenBB, we decided to wind down the business and give it to the community by open sourcing our entire product suite.

Thank you for following this newsletter and sharing it with others. Writing forced me to simplify ideas and helped me express myself better. Putting myself out there forced me to find holes in my thesis and present it better. It led to countless conversations, sometimes from posts I had shared the year prior.
It’s incredible how the internet still rewards people who have a strong opinion, as long as you stand for something.
I’m forever grateful to have been given the opportunity to build OpenBB. I truly believed that it was my life’s work and worked every single day as if it were.
And so did the rest of the team - truly missionaries.
With the source code now available, I really hope I see companies run with it.
There is still so much to build on top of it!!! And from the reactions to my LinkedIn post, I think OpenBB will live on.
Anyway!
In October I’ll be joining a new team as an individual contributor. After years split between engineering, product, go-to-market, sales and day-to-day of running a startup, I’m looking forward to building full-time again.
Before that, I’ll publish the full OpenBB Workspace roadmap I had in mind with you. I won’t be carrying it, so I hope someone does.
A couple of other posts I was working on will also go out in September.
After that, I’ll mostly go quiet here.
But you can always reach me on socials if you need anything.
PS: Given the number of founders/builders who reached out to meet, and the lack of bandwidth to meet everyone - I decided to filter it a bit.

The response to winding down OpenBB has been unbelievable. Hundreds of messages came in; a lot of them from founders and builders asking for time to talk through what they're working on.
Unfortunately I don't have the bandwidth to take all these calls... at the same time I'm still raising money for cancer research... and I still have a few OG OpenBB hats (the last ones that were made!!!).
So… here's the deal:
I'll do a 1-hour call/meet with anyone who donates at least $150 to Team Continuum. Fundraising, lessons learned, why I think we failed, open sourcing the workspace, what I would have done next - anything you want to ask.
This is valid until we reach my fundraising goal of $3500. And if we meet in person, I will bring you a vintage OpenBB hat guaranteed.
